Nakshi Kantha is a kind of embroidered quilt, Culture is called the minor of a society or nation, Bangladeshi culture is very rich. “Nakshi Kantha’ is an important part of our culture. The name was taken from the Bangla word ‘naksha. It is a kind of traditional craft or art in Bangladesh and West Bengal. It has been as a popular craft in Bengals for centuries. Famous poet Jasimuddin composed a popular poem called ‘Nakshi Kanthar Math’ in 1929. The name “Nakshi Kantha’ became more popular after the publication of the famous poem. Traditional Nakshi Kanthas are made for family use. Old or new cloth and colored thread are used in making Nakshi Kanthas. Mymensingh. Jamalpur, Rajshahi, Faridpur, Bogra, and Jessore are most famous for this craft. Today it is sold in many handicraft shops in cities. At present it has a great demand in many countries of the world too. It wonderfully helps our national cconomy because every year Bangladesh earns a lot of foreign money by exporting Nakshi Kantha. So, we should be more careful of this craft for our greater interest.
